Press Release - Nigel Tyas to exhibit at national property trade show
Posted by Steph Pollard - 13 March 2017Yorkshire ironworker Nigel Tyas will be exhibiting at one of the country’s biggest trade shows later this month.
The designer-maker will take a stand at the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show at the NEC in Birmingham (March 23-26) where he will showcase his latest range of lighting designs.
Nigel Tyas Ironwork was founded by blacksmith Nigel and partner Elizabeth Stocker in 2000 and now sells its hand-forged lighting, chandeliers, lamps, curtain poles, fire irons and homewares to customers across the world.
This will be one of the first exhibitions Nigel has attended in 17 years of trading and the move is part of a growth strategy to increase sales by 20 per cent in 2017.
Nigel said: “We’ve built a reputation for quality, authenticity and craftsmanship over the years and have been pleased to steadily grow our customer base largely through recommendation and return trade.
“This year we’ve decided to take a stand at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show to meet some new people and to show off our latest ranges. We’re also responding to quite a bit of demand from online customers to meet us and see our products ‘in the metal’ so to speak. Not everyone can make it up to our Yorkshire showroom.”
Amongst the new designs on show will be Nigel’s Stocksmoor 3-light cluster – a dramatic feature light with strong, lantern lines fitted with LED bulbs. It can be customised with silk braided cable in various colours and two surface finishes.
Nigel said: “I designed the Stocksmoor to reflect today’s modern industrial vibe which suits so many interiors including warehouse and workspace conversions. It works well in ordinary homes too, especially in high spaces such as stairwells for example.
“It’s great to add a design like the Stocksmoor to our range which draws inspiration from medieval, through to country cottage, stately home and contemporary styles.”
Nigel and his team of experienced blacksmiths work within the company’s own forge in the village of Millhouse Green in the south Pennines north of Sheffield. They sell direct to homeowners, plus interior designers, architects, conservation architects and electrical contractors.
All their work carries the prestigious ‘Made in Sheffield’ mark which recognises the quality of manufactured products and celebrates the company’s close association with the city’s metalworking heritage.
Nigel’s products can be seen in the Tower of London, Leeds Castle in Kent and St Leonard’s parish church in Monyash, Derbyshire. They have been exported as far afield as Australia, Japan, Canada and the Falkland Islands as well as across Europe and Scandinavia.
Visit Nigel Tyas Ironwork at stand D274 at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show to find out more about the company’s wrought iron homewares and speak to blacksmith Nigel Tyas about his work.
