The Midhope is an original Nigel Tyas design, created in Yorkshire and inspired by the enduring traditions of British blacksmithing. Its distinctive scroll-top candle holders, graceful proportions and straightforward wrought iron construction give it a timeless character that sits comfortably in both period and contemporary interiors. Available in a range of chandelier sizes together with matching wall lights, the Midhope collection offers a considered way to create a consistent lighting scheme throughout an interior.

A timeless design, hand-forged in Britain

The Midhope collection is built around a simple idea: a strong, recognisable design that can work at different scales and in different parts of an interior.

At the heart of the collection are the Midhope chandeliers. The Midhope-3 brings the character of the design to smaller rooms and more intimate spaces, while the Midhope-6 provides a more substantial centrepiece for halls, dining rooms, living spaces and other larger interiors. For particularly generous spaces, the Midhope can be made in larger configurations, with chandeliers up to 1,500mm in diameter and up to 20 lights arranged over one or two tiers.

What gives the Midhope its distinctive character is the balance between its traditional details and its clean, architectural form. The curled ironwork at the top of each candle holder introduces a subtle decorative element, while the open structure allows the fitting itself to remain visually light within a room.

The collection extends beyond chandeliers with the Midhope Single and Midhope Double wall lights. Using the same design language, they provide an opportunity to carry the character of the Midhope throughout an interior; framing a doorway or architectural feature, illuminating a hallway, or providing a softer level of light in a bedroom or living room.

Individually made by skilled blacksmiths

Every Midhope is individually made by skilled blacksmiths using traditional forging techniques. The iron is heated, shaped and worked by hand, leaving subtle variations in the metal and the marks of the making process. These small differences are not imperfections; they are part of what makes a hand-forged light different from a mass-produced fitting.

The result is lighting with a genuine sense of material and craftsmanship. The Midhope has the presence and character expected of traditional wrought iron, but its restrained form allows it to sit comfortably alongside a wide range of architectural styles and interiors.
