You say ‘ceiling light’ and I say ‘pendant light’ …

We’ve been reviewing the way we refer to our lights lately – the ones which hang down in the centre of your room… Would you call this a pendant light or a ceiling light? That is the question!

Either way, we want to make sure everyone searching for a unique light to hang in their home can find our website and consider buying one of our wrought iron options.

So, we’re adding ceiling lights and ceiling lighting to the more traditional ‘pendant light’ headings on the website. We may be blacksmiths using ancient metalworking skills, hammers, anvils and jigs but we know a bit about SEO, digital marketing and all that jazz too!

It’s important to buy a ceiling light (or pendant light) you love as it is often the centre point of a room and its prominent position makes it an important feature in any design scheme. Whilst other fittings may change or be modified on occasion, a ceiling lighting is often one of your more permanent fixtures. It’s worth taking the time to choose one you want to live with a long time.

At Nigel Tyas we design and make authentic, handmade pendant lights, lanterns, chandeliers and a few lights which fit flush to the ceiling too, such as our spotlights range and our Shelley and Carlecotes designs.

As our lighting is made to order, our customers can choose the finish (natural black or light burnished steel) and colour of fittings they’d like (brass, nickel or antique bronze) as well as the colour of silk braided cable they’d prefer (silver, copper, old gold, brown, grey, navy blue, black).

You can ask for whatever length of cable or chain you need to hang your light dependent on if you have a low ceiling or a high ceiling. There is no limit. We make cascades of lighting to hang through two or three floors in height and over staircases. We make magnificently large two-tier chandeliers to scale for barn conversions and large houses.

Many of our ceiling light designs can be made up in single, group or linear formation and all are hung from handmade ceiling plates. Talk to us about any fitting challenges such as uneven or sloping ceilings too. Our blacksmiths may well be able to design and make a customised ceiling plate solution.

We’ve helped hundreds of customers tackle fitting issues in heritage properties and property refurbishment projects. If you are looking for ceiling lights take a look at our range here to find the perfect light for you. Our range of made-to-order lighting for ceilings is unique and not available anywhere else.
