Innovation and Design
Saturday 30th December 2017

When ‘Living North Magazine’ wanted to write a feature about talented designer-makers based in Yorkshire, we were delighted that they gave Nigel a call.

In this article Nigel talks about his handmade work being a ‘practical art’ and welcomes the current revival of interest in the craft of blacksmithing amongst young people. He is featured alongside Pickering-based glassmakers Kate Jones and Stephen Gillies, plus West Yorkshire-based ceramicist Jill Shaddock.

Embrace 'Ikigai' and invest in a happy home!
September 25th 2017

Thanks to interiors and property editor Sharon Dale at Yorkshire Post for including us in her feature looking at the latest trends for autumn and winter. We absolutely love the concept of 'Ikigai' from Japan which she writes about. It means 'happy life' and is all about making choices for your living spaces which essentially make you feel happy!

What a lovely sentiment and we hope all our customers enjoy this feeling when they look at our range of lighting and wrought iron homeware.

Nigel shows BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Paulette Edwards how to make a shoe horn
Monday 11th September 2017

We had a special guest in the workshop recently when BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Paulette Edwards called in to get some hands-on experience as a blacksmith!

Nigel showed Paulette how to forge her very own wrought iron shoe horn and there was plenty of chatter around the anvil as she and Nigel wielded hammer and tongs to create her little masterpiece with leaf-topped decoration. She’s fond of shoes, Paulette, so we hope the tool is proving useful.

Paulette’s visit was prompted by our event ‘At the anvil - keeping ironworking skills alive’ on Friday September 8th from 2.30pm, when we invited people to see the workshop as part of the Heritage Open Days programme.

What a lovely sentiment and we hope all our customers enjoy this feeling when they look at our range of lighting and wrought iron homeware.
