For almost 20 years the Hepworth table lamp and standard lamp have been a staple in the range here at the forge. Nigel created this elegant, simple piece to show what true quality meant and with a sturdy, hand forged base and slender stem this lamp will suit many homes and acts as a classic, timeless piece that will last a lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Favourite of renowned interior designers Colefax&Fowler, we’ve been making these lamps for a vast array of customers over the years. The overall design is largely unchanged although a few subtle tweaks might be noticeable in the photos. And we’ve only kept the most popular sizes in the recent product review so we only have 2 in the range not 4 like there once was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The table lamp makes a wonderful bedside lamp and gives a classic feel with the British made lampholder having a slide switch and compatible with most lampshades. Typically we supply the table lamp with an 8″ or 10″ conical shade but drum shades are just as fitting. We’ve seen everything from the simple Perga or Oatmeal to a wild peacock feather design and as below, a beautful handpainted parchment shade gifted back to us by one of our customers – Olivia Hayward (@olivia_a_hayward)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the design itself, the base is forged by hand. Cut from a sheet of 5mm thick steel the circular plate is scalloped by hand when the steel is cold. We now roll a ring to sit under this plate where once it was a trio of steel ‘feet’ – the new design being more contemporary, more solid and allowing better cable management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future revisions might include a more gentle tapered finish to the rim rather than the formal scallop shape – see below and let us know what you think in the comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The floor lamp (or standard lamp as many will call it), much like it’s table lamp little brother is made using the same methods and attention to detail. The pair are exactly the same, save for overall size. With a large (20″ diameter) round shade atop, this lamp works beautifully in a large living room and will offer fantastic illumination with one of our Leo bulbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And finally, as with many of our items, the Hepworth range is made to order, by hand and available in either a tradtional black finish or the more contemporary Light Burnished Steel. Both units are supplied with fabric cable and have a switch on the lampholder or can be specified with an inline switch (or foot switch on the floor lamp) should you prefer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
