Our high quality wrought iron curtain poles are all made to measure to your precise requirements. We supply two types of pole, smooth and ropetwist.
Smooth poles come in 3 standard diameters, 16mm, 22mm and 32mm. All poles have a range of matching wrought iron finials, iron brackets, curtain rings and holdbacks.
For our range of smooth iron curtain poles we use a high quality thick walled tubular steel which offers strength and rigidity whilst reducing weight on the wall fixings. We are sometimes asked why we use hollow poles rather than solid pole. Tubular steel is less flexible than an equivalent solid pole and our experience shows that over 16mm in diameter, solid poles are generally so heavy that they greatly increase the strain on the wall fixings and plaster, especially when combined with very heavy curtains.
All of our poles are of the highest quality and will easily support even the heaviest of curtains when coupled with our handforged wrought iron brackets. Depending on the overall length of the pole, even the 16mm diameter smooth pole will comfortably support floor length lined curtains but please talk to us if you are unsure and we will be pleased to advise. We generally recommend that a pole should have a central support bracket once it exceeds 2 metres in length but this is only a guide and if you decide that you would prefer to try your poles without an additional support, we can always supply one later if required.
There is no maximum length to the smooth poles that we can make but we will need to split poles exceeding 2.8m in length if you need us to deliver. We joint the poles using a solid insert which, when secured with a grub screw fixing, is almost invisible. This is normally then completely covered by a central support bracket.
On poles that exceed 4 metres in length, you may need to consider using additional support brackets. If you need your curtains to slide past the support brackets we can use our wrought iron hook brackets with open curtain hooks. If you need to talk to us, just call or email and we will be pleased to advise on the best solution.
The wrought iron finials are made with a short solid pole extension which slots into the end of the pole and is secured by means of an invisible grub screw making all finials fully removable.
Rope twist curtain poles are available in 20 and 25mm diameters. These are formed out of four strands of fine round bar twisted to form a rope. Rope twist poles are more decorative and much heavier than the smooth poles and by their nature are much more flexible. For this reason they cannot be used to span long distances and cannot be used with hook brackets. The maximum recommended length for a ropetwist pole with 3 brackets would be 2.5m.
Our ropetwist poles can be complemented with any of our handforged wrought iron finials but the method of fixing is slightly different. The finial is made with a collar which slots over the end of the ropetwist pole and secures with an invisible grub screw. Please contact us if you need more information about this.
In addition to the standard range of smooth and ropetwist curtain poles, we also have a range of fully forged solid cottage poles which come in smaller diameters and are supplied in one piece. These are particularly suitable for small cottage style windows and are very traditional. If you would like more information about our wrought iron cottage poles, just call or email and we will be pleased to help.
All pole prices are calculated per cm subject to a minimum pole price of £25 and can be finished in any of our surface finishes.

You will find that our range of beautiful handforged iron finials includes designs to suit all ages of property and design looks - from the simplest round or flat button to the stylish sceptre and our most recent addition, the serpent, for a flowing contemporary look.

We try to offer a range of finial designs to suit all tastes. If you are looking for a very simple clean design, the forged ball and smooth spheres are two of our most popular designs and fit well into both traditional and contemporary surroundings. The two button finials, round and flat work especially well where space is limited or where a very minimalist look is required.
Probably the most traditional style in our range of wrought iron finials are the shepherds crook and curl designs. These are all traditionally handforged and sometimes be reduced in size a little where space is limited. These designs look perfectly at home in a rural setting and the wrought iron shepherds crooks can be teamed up nicely with our ramshead fireirons to complete the 'sheep' look!
If you need your wrought iron curtain poles for a more formal setting, why not consider the spear or spiral and for a really stunning effect our beautiful sceptre is truly unique. The dramatic sceptre is is our most elaborate finial and demonstrates the full range of skills of our experienced blacksmiths. If you want to make a real feature of your window, this is the one!
We have recently added the serpent, corkscrew and rat tail finials to our collection for a more contemporary or perhaps eclectic look. The serpent in particular is proving very popular and looks especially stunning in the light burnished steel finish as shown.
For smooth poles, all finials are fully removable and made with a short solid pole extension which slots into the end of the pole and is easily assembled with a concealed grub screw.
For rope twist poles, again all finials are fully removable and are made with a collar which slots over the end of the pole and secures with an invisible grub screw. Please contact us if you need more information about this.
In each case, the joint is almost invisible and is normally completely covered by the end curtain pole bracket.
Where space is limited you can butt your pole right up to an adjoining wall with a single recess bracket and use a single finial on the free end. Where a pole needs to fit entirely into a recess, we will make your pole fit perfectly with a double recess bracket at each end.
And finally, if you are really can't decide which wrought iron finial you like most, some customers choose a different one for each end!

Our wrought iron curtain pole brackets are strong! They are are all handforged to order in our own workshops and will support both our high quality poles and floor length heavy curtains. They can be used to suit most situations but if you are unsure about the best brackets for your particular circumstances, just call or email any time and one of our frendly customer service team will be pleased to help. Where a standard bracket cannot be used, we can usually help - I don't think that we have been defeated yet!
For each style of bracket (other than ceiling and recess brackets), the standard distance from the backplate to the centre of the pole is 75mm.
Our most commonly used wrought iron curtain pole brackets are the vertical and horizontal designs. A standard pole will normally have a vertical bracket at each end of the pole and a horizontal bracket in the centre to provide additional support if required.
If vertical fitting space is limited, the horizontal bracket can be used as an alternative to vertical brackets to support the ends of your pole.
Where a wrought iron curtain pole needs to fit into a confined space, you can fit your pole right up to an adjoining wall with a single recess bracket and use a single finial on the free end. Where the pole needs to fit entirely into a recess, we will make your pole fit perfectly with a double recess bracket at each end.

Wrought iron curtain rings and hooks are available to complement all of our curtain poles.
For standard curtain poles with or without a single central support, we recommend double curtain rings. The main wrought iron ring has a smaller ring below to take a brass or plastic curtain hook. We can supply brass curtain hooks as required. For longer poles or bay window poles with hook brackets, our open curtain hooks allow the curtains to be pulled past the hook support brackets.
We recommend a minimum spacing for curtain rings/hooks of one every 10cm (4") although some customers prefer more. We can always send out extra rings if you find that you need them or you are welcome to return any that are unused.
