We offer a friendly and helpful advice service so if you need more information or can't find exactly what you are looking for, please ask - we can usually help. Most of our work is handmade to order so we can sometimes alter our designs to suit your requirements. You can also use the form above to request a quotation by email.


- Our order process -

As soon as we receive your order we will check through the details and if anything is unclear we will contact you to clarify the information. Your order will be provisionally booked into our work schedule on the day that we receive it.

We will need your full address details, a contact telephone number and an email address that can be used to send your order confirmation.

As soon as the order has been checked we will send a full order confirmation. We prefer to send this by email if possible but if you prefer we can send it in writing. This will confirm the full price of the order, including vat and carriage and any deposit required. We will also agree an estimated timescale for delivery.

You will be asked to check through the details of the order and to confirm that you would like to proceed. If a deposit has been requested, it will become due when you confirm that you would like to go ahead.

As the order nears completion, we will contact you to arrange a convenient delivery day and place.

Full payment will normally become due when your order is ready to leave our workshop. Payment terms will be advised in your order confirmation. If you would like pay by credit or debit card, we can collect the card details by telephone when we call to arrange delivery. If you would prefer to make payment by cheque, please ensure that your cheque arrives at least 5 working days before your order is due to leave us.

Payments by debit card, bank transfer or cheque are free of charge but please note that payments by credit card (including mastercard and visa credit) will attract a processing charge of 1.5% of the transaction value. This is to cover the charges that your card provider passes to us when you use your card - sorry!


- Timescales -

The majority of our work is handmade to order and in most cases we aim to deliver within 3 - 4 weeks of the date that you place your order with us.

For small orders we can often get your order ready sooner than this. We will advise an estimated delivery date at the time of ordering.

Lampshades and curtain rings are usually held in stock so we can normally send these out within 1 or 2 days of receipt of your order.

When our day to day workload permits, we are sometimes able to manufacture a small stock of our standard wall lights so if you are in a hurry please ask and we'll do our best to help.

For larger orders we may need to state 4 - 6 weeks for delivery but we will always do our best to fit in with your needs.

Fire irons and companion sets - due to the very high number of companion set orders taken recently, we've regrettably had to introduce a waiting list for these items. Companion set orders are currently taking about 6 months - please contact us for more information.

We work on the principle that it is preferable to be honest about what we can or can't achieve. Bearing in mind that we manufacture all of our products by hand in our own workshop we have to set realistic timescales but you can be assured that we will stick to them and wherever possible aim to exceed your expectations.


- Pricing -

All prices shown include vat at the standard rate. Carriage prices will be advised when you place your order.

We price all of our products with care and we believe that our work should be produced fairly and honestly.

We use the best quality materials and components in our ironwork and source most of our supplies locally. It is important to us to support local manufacturing businesses, especially in view of Sheffield’s metalworking heritage.

It is also very important to us as a business to keep traditional skills alive in the UK and we make all of our products in our own workshop in Yorkshire using skilled craftspeople.

We are sometimes asked about discounting our work. When we created the business it was always an important consideration that we would treat all of our customers fairly. We prefer to cost our work fairly and honestly in the first place and because of this we do not discount our work. Because we choose to manufacture in the UK, we don't have comparable margins on our work as companies who decide to outsource their manufacturing overseas.

The response that we get from our customers confirms that our handmade ironwork represents good value for money.



- Payment -

When you order ironwork from our standard product range payment is generally not required until your order is due to leave the workshop. If a deposit is required this will be discussed at the time of ordering.

For special orders and made to measure work we will sometimes require payment before we can start manufacturing your ironwork. This will be discussed at the time of ordering.

We accept payment by bank transfer, cheque made payable to 'Nigel Tyas' or by credit or debit card.

Please note that payments by debit card, bank transfer and cheque do not incur a charge but payments by credit card (including mastercard or visa credit) will attract a processing charge of 1.5% of the transaction value. This is to cover the charges that your card provider passes to us when you use your card. We choose to add this charge seperately rather than building it into the cost of our work so that you can choose whether you want to pay it or not. The 1.5% is charged at just below cost price to us.

If you would like pay by credit or debit card, we can collect the card details by telephone when we call to arrange delivery. PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOUR CARD DETAILS INTO AN EMAIL. We comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) which is designed to protect your card security when you give your card details over the telephone. We are not allowed to store the security number on your card and will therefore process payments as soon as we collect your card details. All card details will then be destroyed securely.
