Ordering Guide for handforged wrought ironwork

Ordering is easy – we offer a friendly and helpful advice service and you are welcome to contact us by telephone, email or in writing to the address below. We don't currently offer online ordering but our ecommerce website will be available soon. In the meantime please use the order form below to send your order or quotation request to us by email.

If you need more information or can't find exactly what you are looking for, please ask - we can usually help. All of our work is handmade to order and we can sometimes alter our designs to suit your requirements. We will also provide quotations as required.

Customer Service

We pride ourselves on being able to provide you with handmade products of exceptionally high quality along with outstanding customer service. Every enquiry and order is important to us - we will always do our best to respond to your queries in a timely manner and work with you to ensure your complete satisfaction. We offer excellent aftercare service and if you experience any difficulties at all, we will be pleased to help.

Placing your order

Whether you place your order by email, telephone or in writing, we will always check through the details of your order and if anything is unclear we will contact you to clarify the information.

You will be asked for your full contact details, including a telephone number, an email address if you have one. We prefer to send your order confirmation by email if possible but if you prefer we can send it in writing. If a deposit is required this will be discussed at the time of ordering.

When we send your order confirmation we will confirm the full price of the order, including vat and carriage and any deposit required. We will also agree an estimated timescale for delivery of your order. You will be asked to check through the details on the order and to confirm that you would like to proceed. If a deposit has been requested it will become due when you confirm that you would like to go ahead.

As your order nears completion, we will contact you to arrange a convenient delivery day and place. Final payment will become due when your order is ready to leave our workshop.

Timescales

All of our work is handmade to order and in most cases we aim to deliver within 3 - 4 weeks of the date that you place your order. For small orders we can often get things ready sooner than this. We will advise an estimated delivery date at the time of ordering. Where a specific deadline is given for completion of your work, we will always do everything possible to honour this.

Above all we prefer to be honest about what we can and can't achieve. Bearing in mind that we manufacture all of our products by hand in our own workshop we have to set realistic timescales but you can be assured that we will stick to them and wherever possible aim to exceed your expectations.

How to pay

All prices include VAT but exclude carriage. A carriage price will be advised at the time of ordering.

If a deposit is required this will become due when you confirm your order. Any outstanding balance will become due when your order is ready for delivery.

You are welcome to make payment by bank transfer, cheque payable to 'Nigel Tyas' or to call us with your maestro/credit/debit card details. Please do NOT put any card details into an email. We can collect the details by telephone when we call to arrange delivery or you are welcome to call us at some point.

We comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) which is designed to protect your card security when you give your card details over the telephone. We are not allowed to store the security number on your card and will therefore process payments as soon as we collect your card details. All card details will then be destroyed securely.

Cheques will be processed on receipt. Please ensure that cheque payments arrive at least 4 working days before your order is due to leave us and that cheques are made payable to 'Nigel Tyas'.

For payments by mastercard or visa credit a 1.5% charge will be added to the transaction value to cover credit card charges passed on to us by your card provider.

Delivery

For small items we use 'Royal Mail Recorded Delivery' or 'Special Delivery' - price will be confirmed at the time of ordering.

For larger orders, mainland UK delivery is normally by next day carrier. Standard weekday deliveries usually range from £8 to £18 depending on their size and weight. A 'before 9:30am' or 'before 12 noon' service can be provided at additional cost - please ask for details.

We will contact you to arrange a convenient delivery day and place when your order is ready to send out. Parcels normally require a signature so if it helps we can deliver to a work address or to a neighbours - just let us know what is easiest for you!

Depending on the size and weight of your parcel we use Parcelforce, TNT or Interlink Express to deliver our parcels. We will always do our best to ensure that your order arrives on the stated day and generally we find that these companies offer an excellent service. However there may occasionally be factors beyond our control which prevent delivery on the stated day and for this reason we recommend that you do not employ specialist installers until delivery has been made. Regrettably we cannot take responsibility for third party contractor costs.

Returns

We do appreciate that it can be difficult to purchase items that are unseen and we are happy to exchange or provide a full refund (less carriage costs) on our standard product range. We regret that we cannot exchange made to measure items unless they are faulty.

We do ask that you notify us of any problems within 7 days of delivery and contact us before returning the goods. Unsuitable items should be returned to us in perfect condition with the original packaging within 14 days. We will arrange for the collection of larger items but for smaller goods, please ensure that the package is insured to the value of it's contents as we cannot take responsibility for items that are lost or damaged in the post.

Hours of Business:

Weekdays 9am - 5pm and Saturday mornings by appointment.

You are welcome to visit our workshop & showroom but please do call us first so that we can make sure that we are here to meet you.

Please also bear in mind that most satellite navigation systems seem to put us on the wrong side of Lee Lane for some reason - keep an eye out for the millstones at the end of the driveway to Bullhouse Mill !
